A Financial Advisor in Holland Who Actually Works for You
You're building a career on the lakeshore. But employer benefits nobody explained, pay that swings with overtime, and a first home you'd like to buy all land at once, and no one is putting them together. We build a real plan around your life, by video, and make sure it gets done.
You're Making Good Money in Holland, but Nobody's Connecting the Pieces
A lot of Holland jobs come with real benefits: a 401(k) match, sometimes a stock purchase plan or profit sharing, and health plan choices that change your take-home pay. The packages are rarely explained well, so most people pick the default and move on.
Meanwhile the first home, the student loans and the emergency fund are all competing for the same paycheck. And you shouldn't have to drive 30 minutes to Grand Rapids to get help sorting it out. You don't.
Each choice looks small. Together they compound for decades, and the longer they go unaddressed, the more expensive they get to fix.

- A 401(k) match left on the table
- Googling your way through major decisions and hoping you got it right
With Villaire Financial

- A budget built on base pay, with extra income sent to work
- A down payment timeline that still funds retirement
- Video meetings from home, with the same plan and the same access to Chris
- The full match captured, and contributions that fit your taxes
- Never wonder if you made the right call

Chris started Villaire Financial because the financial services industry has largely overlooked people in their 20s and 30s for decades. He built this firm for young professionals who want clarity and direction with their money, and he is in the same stage of life as his clients.

What People in Holland Usually Ask First
Do I have to drive to Grand Rapids to work with Chris?
No. Everything can be done by video and digitally, from meetings to signing documents to the client portal. If you want to meet in person, the office is about 30 minutes from Holland on I-196, by appointment only, with parking validated in the garage attached to the building.
How much does a financial advisor cost in Holland, MI?
The one-time onboarding fee is $250. Ongoing planning is $50 to $125 a month depending on income and complexity, and it is waived once you have $100,000 or more in managed assets. If Chris manages your investments, that is 1.00% to 1.50% a year on the assets he manages, and the rate drops as assets grow. There are no commissions and no asset minimum.
Is there a minimum amount I need to work with Villaire Financial?
No. There is no asset minimum, so you can start before you have built up much in savings.
How do my employer's benefits fit into the plan?
According to Lakeshore Advantage, the Holland and Ottawa County area has more than a dozen employers with 700 or more employees each, including Gentex, MillerKnoll, Perrigo, Haworth, Magna, Tyson Foods and LG. Packages at employers like these can include a 401(k) match, a stock purchase plan, profit sharing, or some mix, and none of it is visible from the outside. So the first step with any new client is the plan documents from their own employer, which we use to decide how much goes into each account.
Can you help if my employer is a manufacturer with shift or overtime pay?
Yes. Variable pay is easier to plan around when you budget from base pay and direct overtime toward specific goals. Chris also reads your benefits summary first, since the 401(k) match, any pension or profit sharing, and the health plan shape the rest of the plan.
How much do I need to buy my first home in Holland?
The median Holland home is valued at about $252,200, according to the Census Bureau's latest five-year estimate, so 10% down is roughly $25,220. For many people that is the biggest decision of the next five years, and it competes directly with student loans, retirement savings and the emergency fund. We put them on one timeline so you can buy without stalling everything else. Michigan also resets a home's taxable value when it sells, so the seller's tax bill is not the one you will pay.
Does it matter that part of Holland is in Allegan County?
Not for working with Chris, which is done by video. It matters for property tax questions, because the assessor and the tax bill come from the county and township where the home sits. Holland sits in both Ottawa and Allegan counties.
Does Holland, MI have a city income tax?
No. Holland does not charge one, and Michigan's flat state rate is 4.25% for 2026, according to the Michigan Treasury. If you commute to Grand Rapids for work, the city's nonresident rate is 0.75% on wages earned there, which is $600 a year on an $80,000 salary. We build that into your cash flow so it is not a surprise.
Is Villaire Financial a fiduciary?
Yes. Villaire Financial is a fee-only registered investment adviser, legally required to act in your best interest and paid only by its clients.
